It all began with the hopes of investing in the future of Marshall County, a future which lies in the hands of our children. Mentor Marshall was designed to involve positive, successful adults in the lives of at-risk children as mentors and role models. The goal - to keep these children drug-free and in school, while giving them hope and the tools they need to achieve their dreams.

Many children in Marshall County desperately need a positive role model in their lives. Children who need us the most are those of parents who are on the wrong path or already have chosen a life of crime. Those parents are now serving time in jail instead of

spending time at home with their children. Research confirms that mentoring these young people works. In terms of educational achievement, mentored youth have better attendance, a better chance of going on to a higher education and better attitudes toward school. These studies serve as constant reminders that our youth need guidance and positive role models now more than ever. Mentor Marshall is dedicated in making a difference in these young people's lives. It is our mission to recruit leaders in the church and community and to get them involved. Our program is a unique opportunity for caring individuals to share their hope and love with children whose
parent or parents are incarcerated or otherwise absent from their child's life. We are available to help our mentors in their work as they develop nurturing relationships with these at-risk children.

We hope you will take the future of our youth in your hands and hearts by becoming a mentor. For more information or if you have questions, please contact our office at 256.582.8113 or email us at mentor@marshallda.org.
